Senior Market Facing Underwriter, Credit & Political Risk
Zurich Credit & Political Risk is currently looking for a Senior Underwriter to join our America’s team, which handles structured credit and political risk insurance for customers in North and South America. The position can be based in Washington or New York. This is a highly technical and market facing position and requires extensive experience credit and political risk underwriting. This is an exciting opportunity in a growth area at a time when credit and political risks are high profile.
Client Externally Focused - The job’s core deliverables rely on delivering service to external clients and/or customers. Typically involves building relationships and promoting the company.
Generating, underwriting and analyzing single obligor credit and political risks
Ability to structure and price policies to meet the needs of both Zurich and its clients
Market facing and production within the Specialties Division
Administering and monitoring underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations and rating manual rules
Developing and maintaining agency and broker relationships
Working within broad limit / underwriting authorities
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
- Zurich approved Apprenticeship program including an Associate Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area
- Zurich approved Apprenticeship program including an Associate Degree and 12 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
Knowledge of Microsoft Office
Experience working on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business
Experience working in a team environment
Experience with Credit Insurance
Knowledge and practice of trade credit and political risk lines of business
Ability to effectively assess risk
Experience negotiating account terms and conditions
Possess knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business
PC and related software skills
Superior skills in relationship building, active listening, needs analysis, and win-win negotiating
Demonstrates strong presentation skills and a solutions and service orientation
Established relationships and networks with specialty trade credit brokers
