Zurich North America looking for an Actuary to join our Specialty Lines Pricing Team, focusing on the Surety Line of Business, out of our North American Headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois. While the Schaumburg location is ideal, we are open to candidates working 100% virtually out of their home.

Specialty Lines Surety Pricing focuses on ensuring the integrity of model price while continuing to simplify Zurich’s pricing tool landscape. This critical actuarial role works closely with the Technical Underwriting team on various projects in order to achieve the following:

  • Deliver the best pricing solutions for new and renewal business for the Surety book of business

  • Develop and improve pricing models by calibrating rates to align with risk and improve model result

  • Support Market Facing and Technical Underwriters on pricing decisions

  • Continually develop Model Price of Surety based on actuarial and underwriting framework

  • Improve portfolio monitoring, develop effective premium / rating structures, and support overall strategies and work that goes into meeting and exceeding the Specialty Lines Surety Pricing Team objectives

This position will be filled at either the Actuarial Consultant or Senior Actuarial Consultant level.The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant’s experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed for this position.

Actuarial Consultant Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics/Statistics or Actuarial Sciences and 5 or more years of experience in the Actuarial areaAND

  • ACAS or equivalent international certification

OR

Senior Actuarial Consultant Basic Qualifications:

  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associates DegreeOR

  • Bachelor’s DegreeAND

  • 5 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area plus FCAS or equivalent international certificationOR

  • 10 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area plus ACAS or equivalent international certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in multiple functional areas (pricing, reserving, capital management) and knowledge/skills reflective of a senior practitioner

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Compensation for roles at Zurich varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are encouraged to apply, and will be considered based on experience, skill, and education. The salary provided is a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location where the position may be filled.The combined salary range for this position is $94,000.00 -$203,600.00.The starting salary range for theActuarial Consultantis $94,000.00 - $154,000.00 and for theSenior Actuarial Consultantis$124,400.00 - $203,600.00.
