Sr Property Technical Underwriter
The Property Underwriting Team has a unique opportunity available for a Senior Technical Underwriter for large, complex property business. If you want to take your underwriting expertise outside of the norm, expand your skills, work with innovative internal and external people, and work in a fascinating segment of the insurance industry, this may be the role for you! Preferred location is the Schaumburg, IL Zurich North America Home Office. May consider other Zurich office locations within the United States.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to:
Work with senior management across the Zurich organization on a regular basis
Work collaboratively with the entire ZNA Property Line of Business Team
Be involved with and work on a multitude of underwriting and other related short and long term projects
Utilize your underwriting capabilities and expertise to shape the Property portfolio
Our Technical Underwriters:
Develop and maintain trust-based relationships and collaborate with Line of Business representatives on new opportunities and innovative business related needs, as appropriate.
Utilize strong business acumen and underwriting experience to review, assess, and make recommendations on highly complex assignments.
Interface between business unit stakeholders and internal partners
Seek to continually improve and shape the portfolio while driving high quality underwriting solutions.
Work independently in a great team atmosphere!
High Level Influencer Internally Focused - The job’s core deliverables rely on influencing or negotiating with a broad range of internal clients, including executives and/or senior management. Expectation of the need to employ specialized techniques and substantial experience. Relationships typically involve persuading or countering opposition.
- Bachelors Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Property Underwriting area
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Property Underwriting area
Advanced knowledge of large property line of business and the legal and regulatory environment
Property experience within Risk Engineering
Strong listening, verbal and written communication skills
Understanding of and developed use of negotiation and influencing skills
Strong knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing regulations and guidelines.
Ability to effectively assess risk
Ability to function in a team environment with leadership ability
