Sr Property Risk Engineering Consultant (Part-Time)


Zurich is currently looking for a part-time Sr. Risk Engineering Consultant to join our Desktop Property Team. This is an opportunity to apply your field risk management expertise in a part-time desktop review role. This is a virtual position with the working remotely from your home approximately 20 hours a week. A candidate in the Los Angeles area is preferred.

Our Desktop Sr. Risk Engineering Consultant is responsible for:

  • Desktop reviews of submission data from brokers, and may include assessment reports from 3rd parties. The assessment will follow the proprietary Zurich risk grading methodology. Knowledge of the Zurich risk grading methodology is not required (training to be provided). These desktop reviews can be for Prospect submissions and renewal Property Accounts.

  • Will perform basic assessment of COPE data for property insurance purposes.

  • Apply working knowledge of NFPA standards, including NFPA 13.

  • Determine the adequacy of fixed protection systems using NFPA and other applicable standards.

  • Evaluate flood risk using FEMA and other data sources.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Risk Engineering area


  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 8 or more years of experience in the Risk Engineering area


  • Experience working in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Fire Science, or related degree

  • HPR Property experience

  • Account Executive & Loss control/Risk Engineering experience within the insurance industry

  • Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS)

  • Strong communication and consultative skills

  • Outstanding collaborative skills

  • History of working successfully in a team environment

  • High degree of proficiency related to PC and Software or systems
