RCIS TAM Team Manager


We are looking for a Team Manager to lead the Crop Technical Account Manager (TAM) Team. The ideal candidate will help us continue to meet established goals and supporting internal and external customer’s needs for software use and technology. They will assess the overall effectiveness of customers' business procedures by looking at issues (such as systems processes, capacity, limitations, operation time) in order to develop or modify IT solutions which better meet crop business and agency requirements.The role can work from an RCIS or home office, preferably centrally located to accommodate travel.

As the Team Manager, primary accountabilities will include:

  • Leading activities to gather detailed input through customer meetings, documentation and facilitated working sessions for approved projects and enhancements.

  • Monitoring business decisions and relay the information to the TAM team to reach the customer base.

  • Guiding TAMs when providing input on business cases for technology change based on crop insurance competitive analysis and market trends.

  • Coordinating and helping facilitate customer technology meetings in partnership with the Sales and Service Team.

  • Collaboration with the Software Product Strategy Group to understand current and future software changes.

  • Evaluating project impact through consultation with the business, regulatory, Information Technology management, development, quality assurance, validation, and training teams.

  • Managing work plans, timelines and budget for the TAM team.

  • Evaluating relative feedback and Return On Investment to effectively prioritize projects.

  • Partnering with stakeholders to identify necessary department resources to meet defined objectives.

  • Mentoring the TAM team in technology, architecture and delivery of applications changes.

Additional Job Functions and Business Accountabilities

  • Help translate business objectives into clearly defined IT business cases, costs or schedules in order to support achievement of a work area.

  • Plan, monitor and control budget, forecasting and manage actual expenditures and expense levels across own area of the business and TAM team.

  • Develop and manage ongoing TAM relationships with key stakeholders such as Relationship Managers, Crop Innovation Manager, and Sales leadership team

  • Manage relationship alignment between the business, IT function and suppliers and lead and manage relationships with suppliers at a senior level to ensure performance levels meet SLAs (service level agreements)/

  • Work cross-functionally with colleagues across the organization and senior local business stakeholders to gain buy-in and ensure medium-term plans are aligned with business objectives.

  • Participate in select contract activities to help select vendors, determine services model delivery that support Crop IT and business services.

  • Understand market place, how Customers use RCIS product, and competitive use of other products. Identify, promote and help support new products and services that will enhance customer relationships and provide increased efficiencies for RCIS and our customers.

  • Work with Infrastructure and Engineering teams to plan and execute software validation resulting from environment and architecture updates.

  • Manage performance of team members, including ensuring team members comply with company policies and expectations and take appropriate action.

  • Assess performance of direct reports at mid-year and year-end and ensure direct reports have meaningful on-boarding, individual development plans (IDPs) and development actions.

  • Provide regular, actionable coaching and feedback to employees to review progress, recognize accomplishments, support development and/or improve performance.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Information Technology area


  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Information Technology area


  • Possesses full technical knowledge of most phases of systems analysis and considers the business implications of the application of technology to the current and future business environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 or more years of employee management experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage a remote employee base.

  • Strategic planning experience to outline staffing plans and customer support coverage that aligns to the RCIS crop footprint.

  • Demonstrated customer relationship management skills with the ability to communicate effectively to customers, IT and business staff.

  • Ability to effectively manage and assign workload, help guide team to resolve complex problems.

  • Able to identify and consider business implications of the application of technology to the current business environment

  • Ability present in multiple delivery channels including virtual and in person to inform and explain RCIS technology in both individual, small, and large group settings.

  • General knowledge of insurance service industry including knowledge of business processes and processing

  • Must possess in-depth, strong problem solving analytical skill

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills needed; ability to tailor approach based upon audience and message

  • Proficient in using computer based tools
