Zurich Canada is currently looking for a Vice-President and Assistant General Counsel who will provide legal and regulatory counsel to all functions of Zurich Canada.The Vice-President and Assistant General Counsel will be part of the Corporate Law team, reporting directly to the Senior Vice-President and General Counsel.

This is a hybrid work opportunity.

*What you will do - *

•Draft and negotiate commercial agreements and provide legal advice on a wide range of legal matters including data protection, privacy and employment law.

•Provide advice in respect of insurance laws and regulations, including licensing matters, product development and reinsurance.

•Assist the business in responding to Federal/ Provincial regulatory consultations and data calls and also assist with the business implementation of new regulatory requirements.

•Proactively identifying key legal/ regulatory risks and provide related training and support to the business.

•Develop effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Federal and Provincial regulators.

•Participate in various committees and working groups of insurance industry associations.

Job Qualifications

What you bring to the table:

Required:

• LL.B/Juris Doctor and a member in good standing with a Canadian Professional Law Society.

• 10 or more years of experience in the Legal area.

• Strong corporate/commercial background together with insurance law and regulation experience in Canada.

• Ability to manage multiple transactions and legal matters simultaneously and independently prioritize work.

• A self-starter, with the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

Preferred:

• Insurance Industry experience

• Strong organizational and analytical skills

• French language skills would be considered an asset.
