Job Summary
Working within the Ontario Region Casualty team in Toronto, the role of the Senior Casualty Underwriter is to generate a pipeline of new business opportunities whilst managing a renewal portfolio of upper mid-market, large and multinational clients with revenues of $300M up to $1Bn.

Key Accountabilities
Underwrite and analyze new/renewal casualty business within delegated authority levels utilizing The Zurich Way of Underwriting framework.
Develop, maintain & collaborate with Line of Business representatives on referrals and other business related needs.
Develop and maintain relationships with brokers to drive account retention and new business.
Determine client insurance needs and provide solutions.
Supports the sales culture by being a Help Point for brokers and customers.
Complete detailed opportunity assessment with key distributors to identify growth opportunities
Cross-Sell with other lines of business to increase product density.
Participate in Sales Team meetings as related to assigned brokers and/or territory.
Proactively engage in the target account process, managing a qualified list of opportunities 90 to 120 days prior to effective date.
Participate in marketing presentations to assigned agents/brokers.
Anticipate customer needs and monitor trends in order to recommend changes.
Participate in short-term (3 to 9 months) defined scope projects.
Provide assistance in training and developing colleagues.
Business Travel, as required
Extended Hours during Peak Periods, as required
Required Qualifications
Minimum 4 years of underwriting or broking experience.
Cross Border experience is essential, International Programs experience is highly desirable
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
CIP/FCIP/CRM Designations
A minimum 4 years of Casualty Underwriting experience for upper Mid-market, Large and Multinational customers
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Has demonstrated the ability to produce new business and develop market relationships
Microsoft Office experience
Strong Business acumen
