Senior Claims Counsel
To review, analyze and resolve complex litigated claims specific to Cyber, D&O, E&O, EPL, FI, Fiduciary and Environmental lines, of moderate to high exposure, and to ensure that claims are handled in the most efficient, effective way while delivering exceptional claims service.
Review claim documents to assess coverages of moderate to high exposure, such claim documents to include but are not limited to complaints, answers, motions to dismiss, and motions for class certification as well as other legal documents
•Draft/analyze appropriate coverage position correspondence addressing liability and damages and address coverage with insured, broker, Business Unit, Insurance Tower, mediators and judges as necessary
•Ensure claim and file management complies with Zurich best practices as well as the insurance regulatory frameworks
•Perform legal research to assess exposure on both liability, damages as well as coverage in the relevant jurisdictions
•Directly negotiate complex, disputed cases with multiple parties
•Review contracts, technical documents, etc. to properly assess legal situation and parameters so that successful, legally compliant solutions can be reached
•Prepare and develop strategy for resolution of complex insurance matters, and ensure that matters are timely and appropriately reserved
•Attend and participate in multi-party mediations/arbitrations to effectuate case resolution
•Business Travel, as required
•Extended Hours during Peak Periods, as required
•Pass Applicable Exam/Licensing, as required
•Regular Predictable Attendance
•Demonstrate strong understanding of regulatory, governmental and compliance mandates/requirements necessary to effectuate resolution
•Exhibit knowledge of applicable laws specific to Line of Business and its impact on matters
•Meet quality standards by following best practices
•Actively and independently engage with the Underwriters on insights, strategy and profitability
•Attend and participate in client and broker meetings with the Underwriters for renewals as well as new business opportunities
•Business travel, as required
•Extended hours during peak periods, as required
•Pass applicable exam/licensing, as required
