Description

Job Summary

Zurich is currently looking for an Finance Analyst, Business Performance and Insights in Toronto, to join a high performing team with responsibility for performance management analysis and reporting. This role requires an analytical thinker with strong business acumen.

Key accountabilities

  • Develop and deliver detailed financial analysis to support decision making for the Business Unit.

  • Work closely with Business Performance & Insights team to provide advanced financial analysis and modelling, including supporting business performance reviews and deep dives on specific areas.

  • Support preparation of key messages, reporting and financial analysis to brief business, using visualization strategies to convey analyses and insights in a cohesive story.

  • Leverage data to analyze key themes from a wide range of financial data sources in order to identify how different scenarios may impact performance.

  • Assist in the preparation and related analysis of the annual budget/plan, quarterly forecast process and profitability reviews through close work with the business in order to ensure outputs are robust and completed timely.

  • Assist in production of standard monthly financial reporting packages including insightful commentary on results, monitoring of financial issues and highlighting patterns for senior management.

  • Participation in identified Financial or Canada Business projects focusing on innovation, simplification and customer focus, as directed.

  • Help resolve operational day-to-day issues referred from other functions of the business, ensuring an efficient and high-quality service when providing procedural advice, information, producing reports or providing comments on them

  • Coordinate with other areas within Finance to ensure delivery of objectives including planning, internal financial reporting, reinsurance and actuarial insights.

  • Develop and manage relationships with key stakeholders including business leadership and local finance teams to create smooth channels for communicating. Act as a point of contact for business for all matters financial, acting as a conduit between finance and the business units and support functions as required.

  • Extended hours during peak periods, as required.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance and 5 or more years of experience in the Planning/Budgeting or Finance areas

  • Insurance industry knowledge

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Project management skills

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Insurance industry experience

  • Strong knowledge of accounting or treasury principles

  • Project management experience

  • General ledger or treasury transactional experience

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills

  • Technology experience related to one or more of the following areas: General ledger, financial reporting systems, treasury workstation, Business Objects or similar query tools

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
