We are expanding our Actuarial capabilities in Canada! Join our growing team of Actuarial experts! We have senior vacancies in our Property and Liability, Programs and MGA and Mid- Market businesses for Sr. Actuarial Analysts.

Job Summary:

You will be managing pricing and development of effective rating and premium structures and strategies. You will be developing and maintaining pricing tools for the business. You will use your strong data management skills to work on mid to large complex risks. You will be consulting daily with Market Facing Underwriters and Underwriting Leadership – developing your knowledge of various property and casualty products with the accountability to resolve complex pricing problems. You will work autonomously on challenging, strategic projects in pricing, ratemaking, reinsurance for new and renewal business. You will be sharing your analysis, recommendations, and conclusions to Underwriting Leadership, You will mentor junior actuarial staff and market facing underwriters.

This role is highly influential and will directly impact our ability to attract and retain business.

Job Accountabilities:

Supporting our market facing underwriters and leadership in continued growth and profitability of the Programs/MGA businesses

Pricing new and renewal programs and MGA (Managing General Agents) risks

Creating and updating portfolio monitoring/measurement tools

Working with actuarial colleagues across the line of business pricing functions, finance actuaries, financial analysts, US programs/MGA actuaries, and more

Key Accountabilities

Calculate premiums and/or reserves for new and/or existing products

Review summary datasets

Perform statistical analysis

Research and analyze loss experience, loss trends and expenses

Research and analyze loss and expense reserves

Support the development of rates, rating plans and pricing and portfolio management strategies.

Develop rate indications and evaluate pricing levels

Provide guidance to and review work of less experienced actuaries

Pass Applicable Actuarial Exams, as required

Business Accountabilities:

Provide analytical support and actuarial expertise to a project team to determine potential benefits, clarify the rationale for investment and support the planning process.

Employ a range of statistical techniques to determine trends and assess potential business benefits and/or risks associated with a defined product category or area of the business.

Independently monitor and analyze data according to tools, methods and formats and recommend appropriate action to mitigate risk and optimize business benefits.

Utilize and develop spreadsheets and other office systems to deliver a range of standard reports and analyses which enable an assigned area of the business to implement pricing policy/assess performance of a product category.

Research best actuarial practice and review and analyze detailed business models to support senior management in developing and improving processes and systems.

Provide specialist advice to address specific technical queries from internal clients in an assigned area of the business and deliver appropriate solutions, in line with the organization's policies and processes and regulatory requirements.

Undertake research to source information for use by colleagues in the analysis of competitor pricing strategy and other competitor practices.
