Technology Strategist (I or II)
Zurich North America is hiring a Technology Strategist I or II to join our IT team! We are open to hiring talent at our Schaumburg, IL location.
In this role you will be responsible for:
Understand business strategy and how IT plays a part to enable it
Coordinate and lead discovery sessions with business owners and IT colleagues to understand current state and help design future state by gathering detailed requirements through interviews, documentation and facilitated working sessions
Create process models based on business requirements to determine the completeness of the information and process components
Organize and manage multiple assignments with potentially competing priorities and deadlines, while adhering to departmental guidelines and expectations
Evaluate project impact through consultation with the business, regulatory, Information Technology management, development, quality assurance, validation, and training teams
Lead requirements analysis to determine the systems’ potential and define impact on other business units and systems
Support the development team in completion of impact assessments and validation of effort estimates
Develop simple business cases for defined projects in own area of IT expertise, to determine potential benefits, clarify the rationale for investment and support the planning process
Conduct external research of trends and technology topics to summarize and share insights
Perform quantitative and qualitive analysis and synthesize findings
Engage with a wide range of stakeholders in business and IT
Engage in conversations on a wide spectrum – from high-level strategy to granular processes and system details
This role will be filled at either a Technology Strategist Level I or Level II . The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant’s experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed for this position.
Technology Strategist Level I:
Bachelors Degree and 2 or more years of experience in the Information Technology areaOR
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 4 or more years of experience in the Information Technology area
Technology Strategist Level II:
Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or Computer Science or Engineering and 5 or more years of experience in the Information Technology areaOR
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Information Technology areaAND
Process reengineering, e.g. LEAN/Six Sigma, Continuous improvement methodologies
Process modeling tools
Business Systems Integration
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Experience with managing multiple enterprise projects with competing priorities
Experience in tracking/analyzing emerging trends and technologies and creating high quality thought leadership output, e.g., white paper, point of view, research summary
Proven ability to bridge business needs and technology solutions while considering qualitative/quantitative impact to devise strategic options
General knowledge of financial services industry including knowledge of insurance business processes
Must possess structured problem-solving analytical skills
Ability to succinctly communicate insights to cross-functional stakeholders and tailor approach based on audience and message
Hands on experience with process mapping software (Visio, Lucidchart, etc.) and collaboration tools (Mural, Miro, etc.)
Proficient in common Microsoft Office products, e.g., PowerPoint, Excel, Word
Willingness to learn plus a get-it-done mindset with a strong bias towards action
