Technical Underwriting Liability Consultant

Description

Zurich North America is currently looking for a Technical Underwriting Liability Consultant to work out of our North American headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois or our Jersey City, New Jersey office.

The Technical Underwriting Liability Consultant will work closely with the Director of Liability and members of the team, Technical Underwriters, Pricing Actuaries, and Technical Underwriting Analysts, as well as collaborate with the business units to drive portfolio management including but not limited to:

  • Setting strategy

  • Comparing results to expectations

  • Identifying gaps and root causes

  • Scheduling

  • Assigning and delivering actionable items and plans

The Technical Underwriting Liability Consultant will work closely together and with the business leadership to identify needs, interests and challenges of the business, set priorities and expectations. The Liability Consultant will take the lead in coordinating, scheduling and organizing resources, both within the Line of Business and from supporting Technical Underwriting groups (Underwriting and Governance, Pricing, Predictive Analytics, Chief of Staff) to complete critical activities and projects that create and deliver value to the business.

Additional responsibilities will include:

  • Policy Drafting (ability to create new products in the Liability Space, endorsement drafting and review)

  • Risk Management (capacity allocation and utilization, reinsurance optimization; limit profiles, aggregations; stacking and clashing exposures)

  • Profitability Management (profitability reviews)

  • Pricing (technical price development, pricing predictive models)

  • Product (strategy, lifecycle and architecture, content management, catalog, filing support)

  • Insights (loss trends, lessons learned; evaluating and identifying catalysts, insights, impacts and actions)

  • Underwriting development and training (create guidelines, best practices; [provide technical and compliance training)

  • Underwriting and Pricing Assurance (underwriting file reviews, price adequacy, and, as appropriate, technical price maintenance/assurance)

  • Underwriting Enablement (simplifies guidelines, process and procedures; improve underwriting data quality and accessibility)

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Underwriting areaOR

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Underwriting area

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPCU

  • Advanced knowledge of line/s of business and the legal and regulatory environment

  • Strong listening, verbal and written communication skills
