Technical Life Insurance Accounting Consultant

Description

Zurich is currently looking for a Technical Life Insurance Accounting Consultant for our North America Life Business to work out of our New York City Office or our North American headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois. In this highly visible position, you will use your extensive knowledge of Life Insurance Accounting (IFRS, GAAP and Statutory) to play a key role in leading the IFRS 17 Implementation for the Life Insurance Business.

  • Please note: If you are based in our New York City office there will be 2 weeks of travel (Monday-Thursday) required to the Schaumburg office during each quarter close.

Additional responsibilities for the Technical Life Insurance Accounting Consultant include:

  • Partnering with the Life Leadership and IFRS 17 Team to implement the new standards within Zurich

  • Managing/supporting all IFRS related changes pre and post implementation including Group Reporting FIP submissions

  • Participating in monthly and quarterly closes

  • As needed, support statutory reporting deliverables

  • Focusing on finding ways to stream line processes and procedures

  • Implementing other Finance strategic initiatives

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance and 8 or more years of experience in the Accounting or Finance area

OR

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Accounting or Finance area

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA

  • CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter)

  • CFP (Certified Financial Planner)

  • ChFC (Chartered Financial Consultant)

  • Strong knowledge of Life Insurance products and accounting (IFRS, Statutory, GAAP)

  • Project management experience

  • General ledger experience and strong analytical and report writing capabilities

  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office experience in Excel, PowerPoint and Visio

  • Technology experience related to one or more of the following areas: SAP General ledger, financial reporting systems Business Objects or other query tools

  • Mindset /focus on process improvements, simplification and automation of processes

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
