Senior Business Systems Analyst
Zurich is currently looking for a Business Systems Analyst to work out of our North American headquarters in Schaumburg, IL supporting a portfolio of commercial and underwriting insurance applications as part of the Core Platforms Modernization team within Information Technology Services.
This individual will work with the team to translate policy administration business requirements into technical specifications for application updates related to projects, enhancements and compliance needs while working in an Agile environment supporting the design, construction and implementation of these updates to the applications. The ideal candidate will be an individual that is an energetic and a skilled professional requiring minimal supervision, can lead others, and will serve as the liaison between the Business and IT.
The BSA will also have the ability to work with the business and technical resources to address business information and the application needs.
Other responsibilities may include:
Having a working knowledge of relational databases, preferably MS SQL Server
Ability to understand complex transactional processing standards required for premium allocation to support statistical and financial reporting
Assisting with formulating and defining systems (system configuration) scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with a basic understanding of business systems and industry requirements
Guiding users in building business cases, performing impact analysis, and supporting application testing, implementation and training activities throughout the process
Assisting with creation & refinement of design (mockup) on new functionality
Supporting the development team
Working with BA & Project Team to develop & present/communicate technical concept alternatives, integration decisions, issues, plans
Providing strong analytical skills that allow for identification of defects related to data characteristics
Evaluating project impact through consultation with the business, regulatory / compliance, information technology management, development, quality assurance, validation, and training teams
Analyzing insurance circulars and filing materials and translating into functional requirements
Reviewing, augmenting and facilitating the development and execution of quality test plans to ensure test coverage meets the commensurate risk
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Computer Science or Engineeringand 8 or more years of experience in the Information Technology areaOR
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Information Technology areaAND
Process re-engineering; LEAN/Six Sigma experience
Experience with process modeling tools
Insurance application system design/analysis experience
Experience with use case development
Experience with Rapid Application Development (RAD) tools/techniques
2 or more years of experience working in a Commercial insurance or Underwriting environment or knowledge of insurance business processes and processing
2 or more years of experience with Guidewire PolicyCenter
Consulting experience preferred
Supporting and performing testing as necessary to ensure requirements are met
Experience working with various delivery methodologies, specifically the Agile methodology framework, preferred
Advanced Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) skills
Familiarity with ISO standards and requirements as they apply to the management of applications and different lines of business
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills needed; ability to tailor approach based upon audience and message
