Senior Actuarial Analyst II

Zurich is currently looking for a Senior Actuarial Analyst to join the National Accounts Transactional Pricing Team based out of Zurich’s North American Headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois, or another Zurich North American office location. This colleague will support the market facing underwriting teams in our National Account business units as well as interface with the Shared Service Units such as Technical Underwriting and Finance to ensure the technical needs and analyses of our business unit partners are properly informed of developments within the segment.

Through this collaborative, cross functional business partnership, the National Accounts Pricing team improves the financial understanding and performance of accounts within the regions and enhances the quality of technical underwriting, decision making and risk selection. The team is instrumental in profitably growing the premium volume on both a regional and company level.

As a member of the Transactional Pricing Team, you will assist other team members as a resource for the underwriters and underwriting managers of the National Accounts business units. This would primarily be Large Casualty & Construction SBUs. • Understand profit drivers on portfolio and book segments and communicate insights as needed.

  • Provides leadership with recommendations on key parts of the large account book of business to help drive strategic profit and growth.

  • You will develop strategic partnerships with the business segment leadership, Portfolio Managers and Underwriters.

  • Communication skills specifically as it relates to discussing technical material for non-actuaries in a clear and concise manner. This colleague will help underwriters craft a story and support the new/renewal proposal with sound rationale for rate increases, term changes, coverage adjustments, etc. beyond “the model says so”.

  • Provide technical and quantitative support for complex actuarial model building in particular the development and transition to a new pricing tool for large accounts/captives.

  • Manage the demands of the various stakeholders ensuring predictable and timely completion of work. Especially important if individual is also balancing exam study time.

This is an opportunity to gain broad exposure to our various casualty lines of business, business segments and customers/prospects.
