Zurich Insurance Company is currently looking for a ReinsuranceSenior Actuarial Analyst in Group Reinsurance. This person will report to the Head of Reinsurance Analytics in North America. This position is based in Schaumburg, IL North America Headquarters.

Group Reinsurance is a global function. Its mission is to provide market-leading capacity and insights, optimize capital efficiency and manage volatility at the Group level.

The main responsibilities of this role include:

  • Pricing external reinsurance treaties globally for various lines of business such as Property, Casualty and Special Lines

  • Support reinsurance managers in respect of structuring, optimizing and planning of reinsurance programs as well as allocation of reinsurance costs

  • Use DFA (dynamic financial analysis) models to calculate the respective economic effect and reinsurance KPIs (key performance indicators)

  • Contribute to the maintenance of Zurich’s Natural Catastrophe Group Model andsupport the submission to rating agencies and regulators with respect to catastrophe exposures and reinsurance

  • Communicate frequently with brokers and reinsurers in presentation of Zurich’s reinsured portfolios

  • Interact within Group Re’s Analytics team, with Group Re’s Reinsurance Management team, Actuarial CoE, Business Units, Global Cat Management as well as Treasury Capital Management

  • Further develop, document and strengthen DFA models and pricing tools

  • Collaborate with other team members in projects

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area AND

  • ACAS

Preferred Qualifications:

  • FCAS

  • Technical knowledge and skills reflective of a practitioner who has progressed within actuarial positions of increasing responsibility

  • Experience in multiple functional areas (pricing, reserving, capital management) and in multiple business units

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Strong communication skills – verbal and written

  • Team-player and highly motivated individual

  • Willingness to learn on the job and to pursue continuing development in the reinsurance area

  • Ability to work with sometimes imperfect inputs and deliver in stress situations

  • Ability to effectively communicate technical, complex issues at various levels and work effectively and efficiently in a multi-cultural team environment
