Reinsurance Financial Analyst


Zurich is currently looking for a Reinsurance Financial Analyst to work out of our North American Headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois.

The Financial Analyst will administer operational and accounting aspects of assigned reinsurance accounts, including premium and loss activity, reporting, cash settlement, and account reconciliation and clearing.

This position is within Zurich's Group Reinsurance (Group Re) function; a global function.The North American Group Reinsurance hub function manages $18 billion in reinsurance recoverables,$9 billion of assumed and ceded premiums and has the fiduciary responsibility for reinsurance collateral of approximately $15 billion.

Activities include:

  • Preparing ledger entries

  • Calculate, monitor reinsurance premium activity and provide for discrepancy review and reporting

  • Preparing loss account statements in accordance with contract terms

  • Identify, calculate and record reinsurance recoverables in compliance with stated terms and conditions of reinsurance contracts

  • Reconcile basic detail reinsurance related activity, identifying issues and taking corrective action

  • Perform reinsurance accounts receivable and payable related functions

  • Prepare analysis to support financial reporting

  • Account reconciliations and clearing

Basic Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 4 or more years of experience in finance or accounting OR

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in finance or accounting

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Insurance industry experience

  • Demonstrated team oriented experience

  • Knowledge of reinsurance processing

  • Microsoft Office desktop skills experience – especially Excel and Access

  • Technology experience related to one or more of the following areas: General ledger, financial reporting systems

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
