Zurich NA Legal Assistant in Schaumburg, Illinois
Zurich is currently seeking a Legal Assistant for its Schaumburg, IL Headquarters location.
Under close supervision of an attorney, the Legal Assistant will handle subpoena
intake and respond to subpoenas. This position also provides legal support in the
maintaining and updating files
gathering, reviewing and organizing documents and correspondence
legal and documentary research, including using eDiscovery tools
drafting legal documents
correspondence and pleadings of basic complexity
maintaining and updating files
monitoring case schedules and filing deadlines
summarizing depositions, interrogatories, and testimony
Work may be in support of less complex Corporate or Customer litigation cases
(e.g. case work, research, subpoenas, etc.).
Influencer Internally Focused - The job’s core deliverables rely on influencing or
negotiating with a range of internal clients, usually at the line manager or employee
level. Relationships typically involve promoting cooperation, collaboration or
Associate Degree and 2 or more years of experience in the Legal or Legal Support areaOR
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 2 or more years of experience in the Legal or Legal Support areaAND
Experience conducting electronic database research
Experience drafting legal documents, correspondence, and/pleadings
Insurance industry experience
One or more professional certifications:- CORE Registered Paralegal (CRP)- PACE Registered Paralegal (PRP)- Certified Paralegal (CP)- Legal Assistant (CLA)- Professional Paralegal (PP)
Effective written and verbal communication; ability to summarize information clearly and concisely
Ability to effectively organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines for multiple, simultaneous projects in a fast-paced environment
Previous experience in litigation legal support
Familiar with litigation management software
Ability to draft effective legal documents, correspondence, and/or pleadings of basic complexity
Ability to effectively conduct electronic database research, including WestLaw
Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
