IT Data Management Internship Summer 2021


Zurich is currently looking for an Intern to support our IT Data Management team for Summer of 2021 out of our Schaumburg, IL offices.

This intern will work under immediate supervision and perform requested tasks alongside professionals who perform these roles. Generally, this position is part of a summer program with an assigned mentor.

Primary project you will work on:

  • Will be engaged to work on the data lake platform, focus on developing automation scripts for operational reporting

  • Working on Data Catalog and Governance

  • Working on Data Stewardship Tasks and Projects

  • ZNA communications with IT team

You will learn:

  • Understanding of data governance specifically for Insurance Data

  • Working collaboratively across IT functions in North America

  • Databrick for compute

  • Hive/Spark SQL

  • Python programming

  • Communication and expectation setting and an understanding of the various roles and responsibilities of an IT organization

  • Time management and self-direction in a fast-paced environment

Other development opportunities:

  • Learning enterprise data modeling techniques

  • Real world problem solving and exposure to application development and maintenance in the Zurich enterprise platform

  • Process definition and improvement

  • Leadership

  • Communication skills in a business environment

Basic Qualifications:

  • Actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administrationor related field

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s program and will be enrolled in the fall of 2021

  • Two or more years of college coursework (should be a rising Junior or Senior)

  • Minimum cumulative current grade point average of 3.0 (current could mean last semester GPA)

  • Be legally eligible to work in the U.S indefinitely

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office; ability to analyze large amounts of data and identify trends, categories, anomalies, etc.

  • IT software background

  • Python of Mathlab programming exposure

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Problem solving skills in customer focused environment

  • Quick Learner

  • Collaborative

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently as needed
