Zurich North America is looking for a Head of Data & Analytics that is responsible for leading the Data & Analytics function. This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer and the preferred location is our Schaumburg, IL Headquarters.

The Head of Data & Analytics is responsible for developing and implementing Data & Analytics through the application of advanced statistical and analytical techniques in order to deliver data driven insights supporting business objectives. This position will also be responsible for establishing an enterprise-wide data and analytics strategy that supports our business goals, build enterprise data as a business asset and prioritize business topics for support in conjunction with stakeholders. This leader will increase agility of analytics, drive insights to action and provides strategic and operational team leadership including the professional development of the Data & Analytics team.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Leads a team to drive efforts on the development of new modeling techniques and procedures, and data driven insights that deliver improvements to business results.

  • Leads efforts on the continuous improvement of the modeling process as well as the identification, research, and selection new and/or enhanced data sources.

  • Acts as primary thought leader to shape and directs the model development process and implementation strategy, as well as the data requirements for use in predictive analytics.

  • Owns relationships with internal and external partners and drives ongoing improvements to the data and data architecture.

  • Lead hypotheses generation, drawing from a broad range of sources and functions, and adds hypotheses based on deep experience and business acumen.

  • Lead the synthesis of data driven insights into compelling ideas and messages; determine optimal deployment path for each insight.

  • Provide thought leadership for business issues facing the highest degrees of complexity.

  • Participate in and lead customer and/or industry meetings and events.

  • Support the cascade of Group strategy to department or functional needs.

  • Identify opportunities and risks associated with changes in direction of external environment, looking forward 5 years.

  • Creating a tool to share and monetize our insights with customers to enhance our revenue generation streams.

Basic Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Economics or Finance or Mathematics/Statistics and 15 or more years of experience in the Predictive Analytics areaAND

  • Prior management experience leading high performing teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to develop strategic and actionable solutions that drive measurable business results

  • Strong risk insights, data analytics and experience building and implementing key strategies

  • Demonstrated experience developing data strategy and successfully executing programs in a dynamic environment

  • Strong collaboration, conflict resolution and influencing skills

  • Insurance, Financial Services or Consulting experience

  • Strong analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills

  • Proven ability to influence cross-functionally and prioritize multiple, complex demands

  • Strong knowledge of the Insurance market and trends

  • People management, coaching and development experience

  • Strong executive presence and the ability to interact with the C-Suite

  • Ability to manage vision and purpose, lead the organization through innovative and creative thinking

  • Master’s Degree
