Zurich is currently looking for a Financial Business Analyst to work out of our North American head-quarters in Schaumburg, Illinois.

The Financial Business Analyst works closely with various leaders/process owners/suppliers across Finance to understand business challenges/requirements, lead the analysis of business processes, and translates information into proposed solutions and requirements involving process optimization, automation, and offshoring/outsourcing to ensure maximum efficiency of operations and improved customer experience. Leads implementation for small to medium efforts or supports these activities on larger initiative, ensures their implementation throughout the project life including adherence to Zurich Project Management Framework and the Zurich Risk Policy.

Additional responsibilities will include:

  • Providing explanations and expertise regarding as-is / to-be models as part of the requirements elicitation process i.e.; process, data, work flow, application etc. to appropriate stake-holders

  • Planning, conducting / facilitating elicitation sessions for business requirements and ensures the deliverable's are met

  • Understanding customers´ objectives, processes and products in order to make appropriate recommendations for customer-specific needs

  • Collaborating with process owners to build Business Case, including cost / benefit analysis, risk assessment, project scope and development of a high level plan

  • Producing requirement specifications and outline solution design documents throughout the project life cycle, incorporating change requests and finalization of requirements documentation

  • Participating in development of transition plans, testing, implementation and training activities

  • Participating in post implementation activities including problem solving and measurement of benefits achieved. In case expected benefits are not achieved, participates in the analysis to determine root cause

  • Develop and maintain governance framework to ensure that all business initiatives are subject to a consistent high level of financial challenge and any contractual obligations are met

  • Influencing or negotiating with a broad range of internal clients/suppliers, specifically executives and/or senior management. Expectation of the need to employ specialized techniques and substantial experience. Relationships typically involve persuading or countering opposition.

  • Communicating effectively through different mediums at all levels

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration or Finance and 6 or more years of experience in the performing accounting transactions, analysis, and reporting areaOR

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration or Finance and 8 or more years of experience in the performing accounting transactions, analysis, and reporting areaOR

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the performing accounting transactions, analysis, and reporting area

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in Accounting or Finance

  • LEAN/Six Sigma Yellow Belt or Green Belt Certification

  • Experience with core process redesign, continuous improvement methodologies

  • Experience leading workstreams/projects

  • Knowledge and experience with Business Process Offshoring/Outsourcing

  • Knowledge of insurance industry business processes and processing

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience with change management tools/methodologies

  • Microsoft Office experience
