Enterprise Architect


Zurich North America is seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect to join its IT Operations group to work out of our North American headquarters in Schaumburg, IL.

She/he will be responsible for defining the capability roadmap, optimizing IT investment, and executing our on-premise and cloud computing strategy. The Enterprise Architect will also communicate these strategies to our business partners and will develop and maintain strong relationships with global stakeholders to align both global and ZNA strategic priorities.

You will also be responsible for driving the identification and deployment of innovative solutions to meet the changing needs of our business partners and for managing a team of architects, partnering with suppliers, and engaging with both Zurich North America and Global IT Leadership.

Responsibilities to include:

  • Define and communicate architecture strategies, principles, vision, standards, tooling and methodologies

  • Engage with IT Operations and business leadership and executives to define and create buy-in for an enterprise architecture strategy for both the short and long-term success of systems and infrastructure and execute on the strategy

  • Resolve escalated, complex issues from across the business related to enterprise architecture

  • Lead and direct architecture resources by managing accountabilities and empowering team members to meet to their individual and collective goals and objectives

  • Contribute to modeling and creation of business cases / total cost of ownership studies

  • Research and implement emerging and innovative technologies with support across IT teams to meet both existing and predicted business needs

  • Manage vendor relationships and liaise between teams and IT Operations leadership

High Level Influencer Internally Focused - The job’s core deliverables rely on influencing or negotiating with a broad range of internal clients, specifically executives and/or senior management. Expectation of the need to employ specialized techniques and substantial experience. Relationships typically involve persuading or countering opposition.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree and 7 or more years of experience in the area

Preferred Qualifications:

  • People management experience preferred, including managing technical resources

  • Prior Consultant/Consulting experience strongly preferred

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required

  • TOGAF and IAF Certifications highly preferred

  • Insurance-related experience desired but not required
