Data Center Operations Manager


Zurich Services LLC (a division of Zurich North America) is currently hiring a Data Center Operations Manager and this person will report to the Head of Data Center Foundations and Service Delivery.This person will work in our North America HQ in Schaumburg, IL.

IT Services is the organization that manages day-to-day IT infrastructure service delivery for Zurich on a global scale in partnership with both internal customers and external suppliers in accordance with contractual requirements, SLAs and internal agreements.The Data Centre Foundation Services and Service Delivery area (DCFS) are part of the Service Delivery and Integration organisation (SDI).The role of North America Data Centre Operations Manager reports directly into the Head of DCFS.The Data Centre operates from a co-location facility owned and managed by Equinix (3rdparty).Zurich have a contract with Equinix for the provision of floor space and Data Centre facilities (Power, Cooling, Resiliency etc).The Data Centre Operations Manager is responsible for the effective, and compliant running of the Elk Grove facility and oversight of the Chicago Data Centre (CDC).

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 7 or more years’ experience in the information technology area OR

  • Zurich Cybersecurity Technician Apprentice, including Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the information technology area OR

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 9 or more years’ experience in the information technology area AND

  • MS Office experience

  • Experience in information technology operations

  • Project management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in building relations with stakeholders at all levels

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Analytical and problem solving skills

  • Awareness of legislation and statutory requirements especially relating to IT security and data protection in locations in which Zurich operates

  • Demonstrate a good understanding and ability to follow ITIL standards

  • Understanding of electrical power and distribution

  • Working and practical knowledge of environmental monitoring tools

  • Experience with facility contracts, both scope and management

  • Must be able to create and implement Method of Procedures (MOP) for all equipment

  • Experience with audit compliance and gathering of documentation to support audit requirements

  • Ability to review reports to identify potential trends which could indicate problems

  • Strong understanding of network and data centre operations

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; must communicate effectively and in a professional manner.

  • Experience using ticketing and change management system such as Service Now
