Zurich North America is looking for a Data & Analytics Consultant to join the Data Analytics Team in our North American headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois. The goal of the Data Analytics team is to be a source of sustainable competitive advantage for our business and a source of distinctive value for our customers.

The Data & Analytics Consultant role contributes to this goal by working closely with stakeholders to develop data-driven solutions to address business problems. This role does not require prior experience building predictive models, although a successful candidate will have a strong background working with data and extracting actionable insights.

The Data & Analytics Consultant role works as part of a team to:

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their challenges and translate their business objectives into analytical work-products

  • Work with internal and/or external data sources to extract insights that help shape business strategy and operations

  • Interpret the results of a predictive model / machine learning algorithm and contribute to the development of an approach to operationalize it within the business to achieve impact

  • Support stakeholders after deployment of a solution to ensure it stays relevant and has achieved the desired impact

  • Explain the results of technical work products to a non-technical audience

  • Act as a data subject matter expert on various projects

The ideal candidate will have the following background:

  • Strong data acumen, i.e. an understanding of how to evaluate a data source’s strengths and weaknesses and how to select the right data to meet the business need

  • Commercial insurance industry experience and strong grasp of the business issues involved

  • Ability to translate a loosely defined business problem into an analytically tractable form

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 2 or more years of experience in the Strategic and Operational Consulting area

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree

  • Advanced analytical/quantitative and problem solving skills as evidenced by work experience in a quantitative role

  • Experience working with and manipulating data to develop insights and solve business problems

  • Proven track record of collaborating effectively with stakeholders to understand the business problems and issues at hand

  • Prior experience articulating technical results and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences in a compelling way

  • Ability to perform work independently and collaboratively as a project member

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
