Commercial Claims Professional, Pollution Team


Zurich is currently seeking a Claims Professional to join our Latent & Environmental team in Zurich’s Schaumburg headquarters.At Zurich, the Latent & Environmental Claims organization is dedicated to helping our customers mitigate pollution, toxic tort, latent injury, class action, and product liability losses.

As a member of our team, you will manage a claims caseload from start to finish, working closely with leadership and more senior level claims professionals on this team. At this level, you will be assigned less complex claims under auto, excess, or general liability. This is an opportunity to learn and gain understanding of coverage analysis as it relates to pollution, and management of environmental clean ups.

As part of the claims lifecycle, you will also collaborate and develop key partnerships with internal and external parties involved in the claim such as customers, attorneys, underwriters, and brokers.

Some business travel may be required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 2 or more years of experience in claim handling or within the insurance areaOR

  • 1 or more years in the Claims Foundational Training ProgramOR

  • Zurich approved Apprenticeship program including an Associate’s Degree and 2 or more years ofexperience in claim handling or within the insurance area


  • Juris Doctor and 1 or more years of experience in claim handling or within the insurance areaOR

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 4 or more years of experience in claim handling or within the insurance areaAND

  • Must obtain and maintain required adjuster license(s)

  • Knowledge of claims handling or insurance legal statutes and procedures

  • Customer service experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the commercial insurance industry, claims, or insurance legal and regulatory environment

  • Analytical skills

  • Negotiation skills

  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively across organizational levels and business groups

  • Organizational and time management skills

  • Microsoft Office experience
