Zurich North America is currently hiring for an Azure Big Data Architect to work out of our North American Headquarters in Schaumburg, IL and will report to the Technical Director within the IT Services Enterprise Data Management team.
The Azure Big Data Architect will work with the business in understanding data requirements and will serveas a technology & platform expert in designing and building technical solutions focused on Cloud-basedBig Data ecosystems such as Databricks, HDI, Pig, Sqoop, Kafka, Hive, Spark, Oozie, ADF, .etc. with a focus on understanding data need for data initiatives in building scalable, distributed, and high performance computing cloud based platform solutions on Azure and AWS andthen be tasked with designing and implementing solutions for data management improvements.
She/he will collaborate withsolution architects and predictive analytics technical teams in evaluation, selection and integration of necessary technical components to create platforms and will also manage and deploy Geospatial tools such as ArcGIS to support geospatial predictive models, so involvementin strategic work, participation in local implementations of global programs, and working with strategic vendors to help implement solutions on big data platforms that are stable and secure will be paramount.
Client Internally Focused - The job’s core deliverables rely on delivering service to internal clients, usually at the line manager or employee level. May involve sharing subject matter expertise to others in the organization or supporting others in their efforts to deliver on our promise.
Bachelor’s Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Application Design and Development areaOR
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 8 or more years of experience in the Application Design and Development area
MS Azure Cloud experience highly preferred
Hands-on expertise in Hadoop ecosystems Databricks, Azure Data Lake Store (ADLS), Azure Data Factory(ADF), Pig, Sqoop, Kafka, etc.
Excellent data analysis skills using SQL on Spark SQL, HIVE, ANSI SQL etc.
Good understanding of R, Python, Jupyter Notebook, RStudio, R Shiny, DataIKU DSS
End-to-end design and build process of Near-Real Time and Batch Data Pipelines
Strong written and verbal communication
Ability in working with internal and external Global partners
