Zurich is currently looking for AVP – DevSecOps and Integration Architect to work out of our North American headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois.

As an AVP – DevSecOps and Integration Architect, you will lead the design and implementation of our next generation of best in class DevSecOps, integration, and cloud-based solutions by leveraging hands-on experience and expertise in architecting, designing, and building enterprise solutions. You will understand the technical opportunities and limitations of the various technologies at your disposal and will be able to specify recommended solutions. A key responsibility of this position is to align IT strategy with business strategy by delivering architectural solutions that produce business value.

The job’s core deliverables rely on influencing or negotiating with a range of internal clients, IT leadership and senior business partners by making use of deep technical knowledge, strong insurance domain knowledge and the ability build trusted relationships with IT and business partners.

She/he will display past performance and experience with evaluating technology standards, tools, products, and solutions, make rational design decisions from business and technical perspectives, and communicate and implement recommended solutions. This Sr. Architect will also maintain responsibility for defining the technical strategy of a system, working closely with all stakeholders to drive technology decisions that support product capabilities now and for the future, and guide it successfully through its execution.

Key Responsibilities of the AVP – DevSecOps and Integration include:

  • Create integration and digital frameworks, patterns for reuse, standards, roadmaps for integration ecosystems, tooling and operational support, including APIs, microservices, gateways, orchestration, enterprise service bus etc.

  • Develop the integration strategy and decision frameworks considering potential long-term risks and cost implications.

  • Manage common patterns of data and other ingestion pipelines for Azure API Management, Azure Stack Hub and Mulesoft technologies.

  • Be a proponent for innovation, best practices and sound architecture with optimization of data, technology & platforms in mind.

  • Collaborate with application development teams to craft scalable infrastructure and implementation frameworks using DevSecOps platforms and processes.

  • Work with a complex portfolio of initiatives in various stages of maturity, to design and develop solutions across different functional domains, leveraging varied technologies including CI/CD and DevSecOps technologies.

  • Drive POC projects to build out new capabilities by evaluating/enhancing the development landscape using emerging technologies such as Kubernetes, VM services in Azure and AWS and other DecSecOps toolkits.

  • Assist in application cloud modernization efforts.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Information Technology areaOR

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Information Technology areaAND

  • IT Strategy

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of commercial insurance and related business processes

  • In-depth understanding of various integration methodologies and technologies including gateways, orchestration, enterprise service bus etc.

  • Deep knowledge of Azure API management technologies, Azure Stack Hub and Mulesoft technologies.

  • Hands-on experience of designing and building cloud-based architectures

  • Good knowledge of PaaS and SaaS offerings in Azure and AWS

  • Hands-on experience in storage, Kubernetes, VM services in Azure and AWS

  • Experience designing solutions for digital, multi-channel, customer facing technology platforms.

  • In-depth knowledge of tools, concepts, methodologies and techniques of enterprise architecture including familiarity with industry standard practices

  • Deep expertise around the design and development of solutions across different functional domains leveraging varied technologies including CI/CD and DevSecOps

  • Experience around application of Lean startup and agile architecture methodologies

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively at all levels in a collaborative environment

  • Excellent verbal, written and group communication and presentation skills

  • Team building and conflict resolution skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Master’s degree
