Description

Zurich North America is looking for a Technical Underwriter to support our A&H Product Portfolio, based out of our North American Headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois.

Zurich North America’s Technical Underwriters are responsible for supporting product portfolio management, training, governance, product development & product health in collaboration with Actuaries, Product Designers, Compliance, Legal, Regulatory Services and the A&H Business Unit. The A&H Technical Underwriter key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting Market Facing Underwriter technical training and transactions through risk insights, research and advice

  • Collaborating with global A&H colleagues to ensure alignment and support of North America A&H priorities

  • Underwriting Guideline management

  • Supporting A&H underwriting business tools and 3rd party relationship management

  • Collaborating on compliance monitoring and remediation activities

  • Managing letters of authority and referrals

  • Accumulation management

This A&H Technical Underwriting role is highly tactical but requires outstanding leadership skills. The ability to build relationships, negotiate, and mediate competing opinions are key attributes. To ensure success, you will be required to be innovative, solution-driven and results oriented. Additionally, you must have the confidence to navigate grey areas, influence horizontally and vertically, and to independently make critical decisions.

The ideal candidate will have a blend of A&H experience, or strong expertise in one or more of; Accident, Voluntary Benefits, Travel and Specialty Health products.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Underwriting areaOR

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Underwriting area

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPCU or CEBS

  • Advanced knowledge of line/s of business and the legal and regulatory environment

  • Strong listening, verbal and written communication skills
