AVP and Commercial Property Claims Team Manager
We are currently seeking an experienced commercial property claim professional to join our property leadership team. In this role, you will lead a decentralized, remote team of approximately 5-7 direct reports covering territories in the eastern, mid-Atlantic and midwest regions of the United States.
This team is accountable for providing high customer service excellence, industry best practices, and technical claims subject matter expertise. Claims caseload management consists of commercial property large losses of high complexity and exposures that include business interruption and litigation or Attorney representation.
You will be accountable for the overall performance of this team including personal and professional development, performance management, coaching and mentoring, quality assurance and review of work product. You will also rely on your strong business acumen to track productivity, perform trend analysis and provide reports and presentations.
You will maintain Zurich North America’s high standards of claims service excellence and best practices, and effectively develop partnerships with key customers, brokers and other internal and external stakeholders that are critical to the success of the claims lifecycle.
You will work out of a home-based office. To optimize the needs of the business and our customers, we prefer you to be located in the Midwest or East/Northeast or Southeast regions.
You should be willing and able to travel approximately 25-50%, primarily throughout the eastern half as well as other parts of the U.S. as needed to support the team.
Bachelor’s Degree and 9 or more years of experience in the Claims area including technical claims handling for large loss commercial property coverages and lossesOR
Juris Doctor and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims area including technical claims handling for large loss commercial property coverages and lossesOR
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 11 or more years of experience in the Claims area including technical claims handling for large loss commercial property coverages and lossesAND
3 or more years of people management experience
Customer service experience
Experience with Microsoft Office
Knowledge of insurance legal statutes and procedures
7 or more years of claims experience in the commercial property line of business
Litigated claims file handling experience that includes arbitration, mediation, trial experience in large property losses and exposures
Advanced, in-depth knowledge of the insurance industry, claims and the insurance legal and regulatory environment
Experience collaborating across work groups
Excellent communication skills
Problem solving skills
Insurance designations such as SCLA, CPCU, AIC
