Zurich North America is currently looking for a Product Specialists to join our Casualty Product Development Team based out of our North American Headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois, or virtually. If this position is based out of our Schaumburg Headquarters, we are offering the flexibility to work both in the office and remotely. You will collaborate with your manager to set a schedule that supports you, your customers, and the team.
In this role you will use your expertise within commercial liability insurance to help construct policies, create coverage enhancements, write manuscript endorsements, and provide guidance to underwriters. You will also assist with competitive analyses, product updates for new regulations, and will work with and update our internal tools.
Responsibilities for this role include:
Lead the development and implementation of underwriting solutions (e.g., product development) for Commercial Liability Lines of Business
Identify market standard product opportunities based upon the latest product line, industry trends, and emerging risks
Maintain and promote existing strategic partnerships both internally and externally
Advise the Business Unit and Underwriters in responding to coverage requests and drafts language for specific transactions and portfolio coverage enhancements
Promote a consistent approach to coverage through adherence to an established coverage philosophy
Structure new endorsements consistently and maintain the endorsement library with relevant updates and modifications
Support underwriting strategy and product development by incorporating lessons learned from competitor forms and approaches to coverage in new products
Participate in compliance-related queries, including state regulatory exams and insurance department inquiries
Lead product refreshes (e.g., updating pre-existing coverages and endorsements) by managing form and endorsement drafting, leading reviews with Corporate Law and Claims Legal, and managing the filing process and Departments of Insurance review and approval process
Analyzes and develops solutions pertaining to Insurance Regulatory requirements with respect to product filings within scope of underwriting
This role will be filled at either the Product Specialist I or AVP, Product Specialist II level. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant’s experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed for this position.
Basic Qualifications – Product Specialist I
- JD and 6 or more years of experience of law practice specializing in the insurance area
Basic Qualifications – AVP, Product Specialist II
- JD and 7 or more years of experience of law practice specializing in the insurance area
Commercial Liability Product experience, including product creation, drafting coverage enhancements and manuscript endorsements
Umbrella and Excess product experience
Strong organizational and analytical skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Compensation for roles at Zurich varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. The Compensation provided is a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location where the position may be filled. Other rewards may include short term incentive bonuses and merit increases. The salary range] for the Product Specialist I is: $99,280 - $124,100 and for the AVP, Product Specialist II is $133,920 - $167,400.
