Zurich North America is currently looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Data & Analytics Engineering team, ideally based out of our North American Headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois but we are open to filling this role virtually.

Zurich’s Data & Analytics Engineering Team is responsible for the building cloud native analytics ecosystem at scale, and machine learning operations. The Senior Software Engineer will assist with leading the predictive model deployment as well as responsible for prototyping and building front-end user interfaces.

The primary responsibilities of the Data & Analytics Senior Software Engineer include:

  • Architect, design and build analytics-focused full-stack solutions

  • Advocating and enforcing adoption of architecture standards, reusable code examples, and physical design best practices

  • Assisting with the transfer of knowledge of python development skills in the enterprise

  • Supporting a service-oriented data architecture as required

  • Designing solutions that fit within the enterprise's larger data integration strategy or initiative

  • Providing coaching and mentoring to junior members of the team

  • Exercising strong communication, collaboration, and ownership of code and projects

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Mathematics/Statistics and 6 or more years of experience in the Data Engineering areaOR

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 8 or more years of experience in the Data Engineering areaOR

  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree in Computer Science or Mathematics/Statistics and 6 or more years of experience in the Data Engineering areaAND

  • 5 or more of experience in Enterprise Data Engineering

  • Experience in scripting languages

  • Experience with data transformation and aggregation tools

  • Experience in data analysis, data interrogation or data profiling

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in Python backend REST APIs with frameworks such as Flask, Fastapi, etc.

  • Expertise in JavaScript developing single page applications and prototypes using React, Angular, or similar technologies

  • Experience with traditional and non-traditional database technology like SQL, SparkSQL, and NOSQL

  • Prior experience with security components such as Okta and Windows or Azure AD groups

  • Prior experience with Microsoft Azure and Power Platform services

  • Prior work experience partnering with quantitative researchers and Data Scientists

  • Ability to work with limited direction and with a sense of urgency

Compensation for roles at Zurich varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience.  As required by local law, Zurich provides in good faith a reasonable range of compensation for roles. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are encouraged to apply, and will be considered based on experience, skill, and education. The salary provided is a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location where the position may be filled.The starting salary range for this position is $ 94,000.00- 154,000.00.
