Zurich North America is currently looking for a Product Drafting Specialist to join our Property Product Development Team. We are offering the flexibility for this role to be based in our North American Headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois or virtually. If office based, we are offering the flexibility to work both in the office and remotely. You will collaborate with your manager to set a hybrid schedule that supports you, your customers, and the team.

In this role you will use your expertise within Commercial Property insurance to help construct policies, create coverage enhancements, write manuscript endorsements, and provide guidance to underwriters. You will also assist with competitive analyses, product updates for new regulations, and will work with and update our internal tools.

This position can be filled at either the Specialist I or Specialist II reward level.  The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant’s experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed for this position.

Responsibilities for this role include:

  • Lead the development and drafting of accurate policy language and underwriting solutions (e.g., product development) for Commercial Property Lines of Business

  • Identify market standard product opportunities based upon the latest product line, industry trends, and emerging risks

  • Maintain and promote existing strategic partnerships both internally and externally

  • Working collaboratively with internal stakeholders to ensure product objectives are achieved and the development process is executed.

  • Advise the Business Unit and Underwriters in responding to coverage requests and drafts language for specific transactions and portfolio coverage enhancements

  • Promote a consistent approach to coverage through adherence to an established coverage philosophy

  • Structure new endorsements consistently and maintain the endorsement library with relevant updates and modifications

  • Support underwriting strategy and product development by incorporating lessons learned from competitor forms and approaches to coverage in new products

  • Participate in compliance-related queries, including state regulatory exams and insurance department inquiries

  • Lead product refreshes (e.g., updating pre-existing coverages and endorsements) by managing form and endorsement drafting, leading reviews with Corporate Law and Claims Legal, and managing the filing process and Departments of Insurance review and approval process

  • Analyzes and develops solutions pertaining to Insurance Regulatory requirements with respect to product filings within scope of underwriting.

Basic Qualifications: (Product Drafting Specialist I)

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Product Development areaOR

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Product Development areaAND

  • Property and Casualty insurance experience in one major line of business

  • Underwriting and/or Claims experience

Basic Qualifications: (Product Drafting Specialist II)

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Product Development areaOR

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Product Development areaAND

  • Property and Casualty insurance experience in three or more major lines of business

  • Underwriting and/or Claims experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPCU

  • ARM

  • CPU

  • Juris Doctor

  • Change management skills

  • Experience with State filing department

The salary range for this role at the Specialist I level is $81,900-$102,400.  The salary range for this role at the Specialist II level is $101,700-$127,100.  This is the range Zurich NA in good faith believes is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of the posting.  This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed remotely in any US state. Base pay offered may vary depending on, but not limited to education, experience, skills, geographic location, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.  This job is also bonus eligible. No amount is considered to be wages or compensation until such amount is earned, vested, and determinable.
