Workers' Compensation Paralegal
Zurich is currently seeking to add a Workers’ Compensation Paralegal for its Staff Legal Office in Pasadena, California.
The Paralegal, under the supervision of an attorney, this role provides legal support such as legal and documentary research; drafting legal documents, correspondence, discovery and pleadings of moderate complexity; maintaining and updating files; monitoring case schedules and filing deadlines; conducting interviews; and summarizing depositions, discovery and testimony. Work may be in support of moderately complex litigation cases (e.g. case work, research, subpoenas). The considered candidate resume will demonstrate extensive experience with Workers’ Compensation cases in California.
Associate Degree in Law or Paralegal Studies and 4 or more years of experience in the Legal Support areaOR
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree in Law or Paralegal Studies and 4 or more years of experience in the Legal Support area
Per California Business and Professions Code section 6450(c), candidates must possess:
A certificate of completion of a paralegal program approved by the American Bar AssociationOR
A certificate of completion of a paralegal program at, or a degree from, a post secondary institution that requires the successful completion of a minimum of 24 semester, or equivalent, units in law-related courses that has been accreditedOR
A Bachelor’s degree or an advanced degree in any subject, with a minimum of one year of law-related experience under the supervision of an attorney
Previous experience conducting electronic database research
Previous experience drafting legal documents, correspondence, and/or pleadings
Experience performing research and motion preparation assignments
Ability to effectively draft complex legal documents, correspondence, and/or pleadings.
Strong ability to effectively conduct electronic database research, including LexisNexis
Highly effective written and verbal communication; ability to summarize information clearly and concisely
Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Ability to effectively organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines for multiple, simultaneous projects
Ability to successfully work independently as well as within a team
CORE Registered Paralegal (CRP), PACE Registered Paralegal (PRP), Certified Paralegal (CP), Certified Legal Assistant (CLA)or Professional Paralegal (PP)
