Description

Zurich Insurance is looking for a Senior Underwriter Specialist for our New York City office.

The ideal candidate will work in a team setting to underwrite Directors & Officers Liability, Employment Practices Liability, Fiduciary Liability and Crime Coverage. This is a great opportunity to join our growing Management Solutions team.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Generating, underwriting, and analyzingDirectors & Officers Liability, Employment Practices Liability, Fiduciary Liability and Crime Coverage opportunities.

  • Managing own portfolio of accounts.

  • Working within broad limits and authorities on highly complex assignments.

  • Market facing activities, such as developing and maintaining broker relationships and developing a pipeline.

  • Collaborating and cross selling with other lines of businesses to develop a One Zurich approach and to manage exposure aggregation.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area

OR

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area

OR

  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 1 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area

OR

  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 4 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area

AND

  • Knowledge of line/s of business and the legal and regulatory guidelines

  • Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business

  • Experience with Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • In-depth knowledge of EPLI, Fudiciary Liability, D&O line/s of business and legal and regulatory guidelines

  • Superior skills in relationship building, active listening, needs analysis, and win-win negotiating.

  • Demonstrates strong presentation skills and a solutions and service orientation.

  • Possess solid time management skills and a working knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong negotiation skills.

  • Ability to effectively assess risk.

  • Ability to multi-task.

Must be able to function effectively in team environment.
