Zurich is currently looking to hire an Underwriter to join our Wholesale Public, Management Liability team! This new underwriting team member may be hired in New York City or Chicago. This role is dedicated to the wholesale broker channel and is a great opportunity to join our growing E&S Financial Lines team!

In this role, you will underwrite and perform financial analysis across management liability products, for publicly traded companies. The position will have technical, transactional and market facing responsibilities; and it will also make contributions in the areas of product/proposition development, marketing, fulfillment, and portfolio management.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Generating, underwriting, and analyzing Directors and Officers, Employment Practices, and Fiduciary Liability, and Commercial Crimenew and renewal policies

  • Market facing and production with wholesale brokers

  • Administering and monitoring underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations and rating manual rules

  • Working within broad limits and authorities on highly complex assignments

  • Managing a portfolio of accounts and developing a pipeline of business

  • Collaborating and cross selling with other stakeholders and lines of business within Zurich

Management Liability Underwriter I- Basic Qualifications (Level I):

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 1 or more years ofexperience in the Underwriting, Accounting, Banking, Risk Management or Market Facing areaOR

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 2 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support areaAND

  • Knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory environment

  • Knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing regulations and guidelines

Senior Management Liability Underwriter- Basic Qualifications (Level II):

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3 or more years ofexperience in the Underwriting, Accounting, Banking, Risk Management or Market Facing areaOR

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims, Underwriting Support areaOR

  • Zurich approved Apprenticeship program including an Associate Degree and 1 or more years ofexperience in the Underwriting, Accounting, Banking, Risk Management or Market Facing areaOR

  • Zurich approved Apprenticeship program including an Associate Degree and 4 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support areaAND

  • Knowledge of line/s of business and the legal and regulatory guidelines

  • Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business

  • Experience with Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications (Level I & Level II):

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 1 or more years of experience in Underwriting with emphasis management liability products in the wholesale market

  • Strong negotiation skills and wholesale broker relationships

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Microsoft Office skills

The salary range for this role at the Level I in New York City is $78,000-$97,500. The salary range for this role at the Level II in New York City is $98,800-$123,500. This is the range Zurich NA in good faith believes is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of the posting. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in New York City. Base pay offered may vary depending on, but not limited to education, experience, skills, geographic location, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business needs. This range may be modified in the future. This job is also bonus eligible. No amount is considered to be wages or compensationuntil such amount is earned, vested, and determinable.
