ZurichInsurance is currently looking for an International P&C Underwriter with MiddleMarkets underwriting experience for our Commercial Insurance division in our

NewYork office.

We are looking for someone with excellent market facing and technical skillsthat has experience working with International accounts.

Client Externally Focused - The job’s core deliverables rely on deliveringservice to external clients and/or customers. Typically involves buildingrelationships and promoting the company.

OurInternational P&CUnderwriterisresponsible for:

  • Underwriting and analyzing new and renewal business utilizing The Zurich Wayof Underwriting framework and within delegated authority levels on assignmentof higher technical complexity and coordination.

  • Administer and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws andregulations, and rating annual rules.

  • Develop, maintain & collaborate with Line of Business representatives onreferrals and other business related needs, as appropriate.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with distributors (agents & brokers)in support of business retention and acquisition and works with customers anddistributors (agents & brokers) to determine their insurance related needsand provide solutions.

  • Supports the sales culture by being a Help Point for agents, brokers andcustomers.

  • Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities.

  • Make broker/customer and on-sight calls with a planned and well-preparedpurpose

  • Negotiate Terms & Conditions and close deals.

  • Cross-Sell other lines of business to increase product density with theaccount

  • Serve as key Zurich contact for assigned target accounts.

  • Calculate Target Price accurately by utilizing underwriting toolsappropriately.

  • Measure exposures/analyze risk.

  • Quote and set coverage, negotiate terms and conditions.

  • Service accounts, handles declination's/cancellations.

  • Participate in marketing presentations to assigned agents/brokers.

  • Provide technical advice that enables a customer to solve a problem or improvebusiness.

  • Develop and maintain positive customer relationships by meeting regularlywith customers when no specific initiative is underway.

  • Anticipate customer needs, monitor trends in order to recommend changes.

Basic Qualifications:

  • HighSchool Diploma or Equivalent and 3 or more years of experience in theUnderwriting or Market Facing areaOR

  • HighSchool Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in theClaims or Underwriting Support areaOR

  • Zurichapproved Apprenticeship program including an Associate Degree and 1 ormore years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing areaOR

  • Zurichapproved Apprenticeship program including an Associate Degree and 4 or moreyears of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support areaAND

  • Knowledgeof Microsoft Office

  • Experienceworking on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business

  • Experienceworking in a team environment

PreferredQualifications:

  • Bachelor’sDegree

  • Experiencewith Middle Markets/all lines of business.

  • Strong Brokerrelationships in assigned territory. (New York City/Metro, Boston)

  • Abilityto effectively assess risk

  • Strongnegotiation skills

  • Superiorskills in relationship building, active listening, needs analysis, and win-winnegotiation

  • Possess ahigh level of customer service by meeting or exceeding broker and or customerexpectations with respect to required deadlines

  • Excellentoral and written communication skills

  • Strongknowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filingregulations and guidelines
