Zurich Alternative Asset Management (ZAAM) is currently recruiting for an Associate Director, Hedge Funds. This person will work out of our New York City office and report to the Head of Hedge Funds.
The Associate Director has primary coverage responsibility for hedge fund managers in the portfolio. With guidance from the Head of Hedge Funds, sources and conducts due diligence on hedge fund managers, research and analyse strategies such as distressed, merger arbitrage, convertible arbitrage, global macro, commodities, and fixed income arbitrage using quantitative and qualitative techniques.
Responsibilities include:
Sourcing new managers
Performing initial screening and comprehensive investment due diligence of prospective funds
Preparing clear and comprehensive reports on manager meetings and portfolio analysis
Researching, developing, and implementing quantitative performance and risk analytical tools
Improving, updating, and streamlining due diligence infrastructure to comply with industry best practices
Creating innovative portfolio construction tools and analytics
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree in investments, sciences, finance, economics, mathematics, or computer science with 7 or more years of experience in the investment management or asset management area AND
CFA, only if a Bachelor Degree is in sciences or computer science OR
Experience in insurance industry as a financial analyst, economist, investment strategist,risk manager
Experience in financial institutions as financial analyst, financial engineer, structure, trader, risk manager
Experience consulting in a consulting firm in the areas of investments, insurance, risk management, financial analytics
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters level degree OR PhD in finance, economics, statistics, or mathematics
Minimum of 7 years relevant experience in any of:
Asset management company or investment department of an insurance company as financial analyst, economist, investment strategist, or risk manager
Financial institutions (such as banks) as financial analyst, financial engineer, structurer, trader, risk manager; or
Consultant in a consulting firm in the areas of investments, insurance, risk management, financial analytics
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Advanced experience in data-driven analysis
Advanced Microsoft skills
