Zurich is looking for an International Director of Operations – West Region. This position can be based at our office in either San Francisco, CA or Los Angeles, CA.

Our International Director of Operations – West Region will lead the development, implementation and evaluation of system initiatives, operational processes and related policies and procedures withinthe NACI Business Unitto ensure compliance with corporate standards and to continuously improve business effectiveness.

High Level InfluencerbothInternallyand ExternallyFocused - The job’s core deliverables rely on influencing or negotiating with a broad range of internal clients, specifically executives and/or senior managementas well as the underwriting community. Developing relationships with key brokers and customers is critical, as well as being able to ability to articulate to them our international service proposition.

Our International Director of Operations – West Region is responsible for:

  • Ensure that all corporate information systems activities are implemented and monitored.

  • Create operational and system policies and procedures.

  • Implement changes to systems and processes.

  • Produce significant business opportunities with major customer/ geography / operating unit.

  • Develop strategic customer relationships.

  • Develop relationships with contacts with specialized expertise who can be called on for assistance and who will alert one to developing issues.

  • Identify opportunities and risks associated with changes in the external environment, looking forward 2 - 5 years.

  • Develop and implement annual budget for area of responsibility.

  • Improve Strategic Business Unitcustomer relations with focus on profitability and productivity.

  • Recommend changes to policies, systems, products/ services to leaders.

  • Ensure that appropriate documentation, implementation and communication of established policy, procedures and operating standards is completed for area of responsibility.

  • Identify potential risks and issues of non-compliance. Participates or may lead risk assessment for their area of responsibility and escalates potential issues to higher management.

  • Manage liaison between Shared Services and the organization.

  • Represent Business Unit on corporate initiatives.

  • Monitor project status and resource utilization.

  • Business Travel, as required, up to 20% (Domestic)

  • Ensure all agreed upon service delivery standards are met / exceeded. Examples include master policy issuance, invoicing, booking, and local policy issuance and premium payment

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Operations area

OR

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Operations area

Preferred Qualifications:

  • People management experience, i.e. career development, performance management

  • In-depth knowledge of international practices & procedures

  • Strong communication skills are critically important. The individual must be able to effectively adjust their communication style to different audiences, external parties (brokers and customers), different roles / levels within Zurich and have a keen awareness of our rich cultural differences
