Zurich Global Ventures is looking for a Cyber Underwriting Lead who uses knowledge, experience, and judgment to determine the most appropriate market placement for a wide variety of admitted and non-admitted cyber risks.

The Cyber Underwriting Lead is responsible for building effective and productive relationships for Zurich and will help us grow Affinity and Carrier partnerships to establish and grow a profitable book of business, across the globe. This role will also work in close collaboration with our Portfolio partners.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Collaborate with Local Business Units and our Portfolio partners to develop cyber solutions, and lead the development of coverage, T&Cs, and UW guidelines

  • Prepare business cases for New business opportunities with distribution partners

  • Evaluate the loss potential due to catastrophe, severity, and/or frequency.

  • Interact with potential clients and partners to understand their needs, and validate product market fit.

  • Partner with Sales Teams (Zurich and our Portfolio partners) to build rating plans and risk segmentation

  • Collaborate with local Insurance Operations, Legal and Compliance to secure regulatory approval

  • Evaluate policies and schemes for renewal consideration and recommend appropriate price or coverage adjustments based on prior policy experience.

  • Acts as a resource to Local business units and our Portfolio partners teams by answering questions, helping solve problems, and assisting with orientation, training, and ongoing development.

We are hiring this position at an AVP or VP Level

Basic Qualifications at the AVP Level:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing or Broker or Risk Management area within the Insurance industryOR

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support areaOR

  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing areaOR

  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 12 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support areaAND

  • Experience with Cyber Insurance

Basic Qualifications at the VP Level:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 10 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing or Broker or Risk Management area within the Insurance industryOR

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 20 or more years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support area within the Insurance industryAND

  • Experience with Cyber Insurance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in risk management, finance, or like majors

  • 5 or more years of experience placing both admitted and non-admitted business

  • Demonstrated experience in standard underwriting practices and procedures

  • Effective communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills

  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail

  • Comprehensive knowledge of insurance coverage forms and their application to exposure

  • Working knowledge of applicable Insurance Department regulations and policies

  • Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given

  • Existing affinity and carrier relationships and knowledge of High Net Worth/Private Client business

  • Knowledge of personal lines rating platforms

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Work, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • CPCU

The salary range for this role at the Market Facing Underwriter AVP level is $127,400-$159,200. The salary range for this role at the Market Facing Underwriter VP level is $186,900-$233,600. This is the range Zurich NA in good faith believes is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of the posting. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in New York City. Base pay offered may vary depending on, but not limited to education, experience, skills, geographic location, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business needs. This range may be modified in the future. This job is also bonus eligible. No amount is considered to be wages or compensation until such amount is earned, vested, and determinable.
