Job Summary

Zurich North America is currently looking for an experienced candidate with a legal and Management Liability Background to join the Technical Underwriting - Management Liability team as a Product Specialist. The Product Specialist will work closely with members of the Technical Underwriting team and will collaborate with the business units to evaluate and draft policy wording and endorsements for a broad range of Management Liability lines of business including D&O, EPL, Fiduciary and Crime.The Product Specialist also will get involved in various product and underwriting related projects, as assigned.

We are looking for someone to provide guidance and advice to Technical Underwriters acting independently and with minimal direction. This person will have experience reviewing and drafting policy and endorsement language and will be drive and be responsible for various projects related to product development and implementation so as to enable achievement of business plan and the delivery of excellent customer service.

The job’s core deliverables rely on influencing or negotiating with a broad range of internal clients, including executives and senior management. There is an expectation of the need to employ specialized techniques and substantial experience. Relationships typically involve persuading or countering opposition and helping find acceptable compromise.

Job Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • JD and 7 or more years of experience of law practice specializing in the insurance area

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of and experience with management liability insurance (D&O, EPL and Fiduciary) policies and the related legal and regulatory environment

  • Public D&O defense or claims management background

  • Strong analytical and written communication skills

  • Creativity in finding solutions to complex business issues

  • Knowledge and understanding of underwriting philosophy and of admitted vs. non-admitted rules and regulations.
