Zurich NA Data Scientist in Jersey City, New Jersey
Zurich is looking for a Data Scientist to join the Predictive Analytics Center of Excellence in our North American headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois or Jersey City, New Jersey.
Zurich’s Predictive Analytics team makes a real difference to how Zurich and our customers manage risk. The team uses their insurance expertise, data and advanced analytics to solve real business problems.
The Data Scientist role blends advanced analytics with business problem solving to delivering a stream of a project with minimal oversight.
As a Data Scientist, you will:
Supports collaboration with business stakeholders to understand their problems and structure an advanced analytical solution to solve it
Scans and prepares a broad spectrum of internal and external, structured and unstructured data to test hypotheses
Design, develop and validate models built using a variety of modeling techniques
Work with cross-functional teams to put models into production, and provide support on IT implementation and system integration of models
Contributes to the team’s collaboration with stakeholders to develop a strategy on how to use the model to generate the desired impact
Contributes to the team’s collaboration with stakeholders after model deployment to monitor the model for accuracy, for execution (is it being used appropriately) and to ensure that it’s generating the desired impact
The Data Scientist also contributes to the broader Predictive Analytics team by:
Supporting the development of best practices and improvements to analytic techniques to solve business challenges
Sharing business knowledge, as well as learning and ideas on business problem solving
Building collaborative relationships across the organization
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Mathematics/Statistics and 2 or more years of experience in the transforming data and developing insights for use in business decision area
High School Diploma or Equivalent in Computer Science or Mathematics/Statistics and 4 or more years of experience in the transforming data and developing insights for use in business decision area
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree in Computer Science or Mathematics/Statistics and 2 or more years of experience in the transforming data and developing insights for use in business decision area
Experience applying data transformation techniques such as exact and probabilistic matching methods; fuzzy matching, text mining, and data reduction
Advanced analytical and problem solving skills
Strong verbal and communication skills
Experience with programming and database mining tools such as Hadoop, Hive, Pig, Java, SQL, and Python
