Underwriting Specialist, Energy/Onshore Property, Houston
Zurich is currently looking for an Underwriting Specialist, Energy/Onshore Property for our Onshore Property Underwriting team in our Houston office.
Zurich’s Global Energy Group specializes in providing comprehensive energy risk solutions, risk engineering services and claims support tailored to the individual needs of oil and gas, petrochemical, natural resources, mining and power generation customers virtually worldwide.
Client Externally Focused - The job’s core deliverables rely on delivering service to external clients and/or customers. Typically involves building relationships and promoting the company.
Our Underwriting Specialist is responsible for:
Underwriting and analyzing new and renewal on-shore Property business, and marketing Global Energy products and services through our brokerage community or the region. Lines of business include Energy, Power Generation, Oil, Gas, Petrochemical and Mining.
Market facing and production for the South Region.
Administering and monitoring underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations and rating manual rules.
Marketing Zurich's products and services through an agency or brokerage community and developing/maintaining the most significant agency and broker relationships.
High School Diploma and 7 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing AreaOR
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
Zurich approved Apprenticeship program including an Associate Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing areaOR
Zurich approved Apprenticeship program including an Associate Degree and 12 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
Advanced knowledge of Energy, Power Generation, Oil, Gas, Petrochemical and Mining experience
Experience negotiating program structures, terms and conditions.
Strong knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing regulations and guidelines
Strong negotiation skills
Possess a high level of customer service by meeting or exceeding broker and or customer expectations with respect to required deadlines
Ability to effectively assess risk
Possess knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business
Superior skills in relationship building, active listening, needs analysis, and win-win negotiating
Strong presentation skills and a solutions and service orientation
Demonstrated technical knowledge and skills reflective of progression of positions of increasing responsibility.
