Zurich North America is looking for the Worker Compensation/Fleet LOB Leader to join the Risk Engineering Division. This position will be a virtual role based within the United States within reasonable distance to a major airport. This role will report to the VP Large Loss Insights / Technical Operations.

The ideal candidate will apply their casualty skills:

  • Identifying trends, patterns and emerging risks in the WC / Fleet lines of business

  • Analyzing reports of specialists/vendors/industry in the WC / Fleet lines of business for insight

  • Research of WC / Fleet issues for determination of company and customer levels of risk

  • Analysis of loss events for root cause determination development of lessons learned

  • Development / instruction of training programs in the WC / Fleet lines of business

  • Develop literature Risk Topics, White Papers, Position papers on the WC / Fleet lines of business

  • Support the WC and Fleet SME’s

  • Partner with Underwriting to determine appropriate Risk Engineering engagement levels

Successful candidates will possess:

  • Ability to analyze statistical data related to the casualty lines of business

  • Strong research, writing, communication and presentation ability

  • Able to balance multiple initiatives at one time adjust priorities as required

  • Ability to partner with persons throughout Risk Engineering and the organization to achieve goals

  • Conduct quality reviews of staff work and develop appropriate coaching feedback individually and organizationally

  • Provide insight into the nuances of US casualty to the RE global network

  • Ability to coach others

  • Attention to details

The Worker Compensation/Fleet LOB Leader plays a critical roleas the subject matter resource for casualty in Risk Engineering,including:

  • Serve as the subject matter resource for casualty in Risk Engineering

  • Provide support / direction to the liability Technical UW groups, legal, claims and the RE network regarding WC / Fleet issues and our strategic direction

  • Support development of WC / Fleet focused tools / services that enhance or expand our value proposition to customers and Zurich

  • Analyze large loss events for insights into; prevention, relevance to our assessment process, and the potential for service or tool development

  • Engage with the senior team of Risk Engineering as requested regarding items of interest for casualty participate on huddles of the Construction, Middle Markets and Construction team

  • Support our Industry Practice leaders and marketing team relative to the casualty lines of business

  • Support / initiate development of RE staff in the casualty lines of business

  • Member of Risk Engineering Editorial Board – reading, editing, approving technical resources developed by the field

The role will be filled at the Senior Risk Engineering Consultant or Principal Risk Engineering level. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant’s experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed for this position.

Basic Qualifications:

Senior Risk Engineering Consultant:

• Bachelors Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Risk Engineering area

OR

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 8 or more years of experience in the Risk Engineering area

AND

• Experience working in a team environment

Principal Risk Engineer:

• Bachelors Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Risk Engineering area

OR

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Risk Engineering area

AND

• Experience working in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Assessing / analyzing significant casualty hazards

  • CSP, CIH or other related certificates

  • Serving in a Risk Management function for a mid-size corporation or larger managing casualty exposures

  • Serving in a legal or compliance role that requires knowledge and application of standards to casualty exposures
