Zurich’s Risk Engineering Training Program for Construction is a hands-on curriculum for highly talented and motivated college graduates with some on-site construction project experience who are interested in working one-on-one with construction customers and contributing to Zurich’s success in your role as a risk engineer. Risk Engineering takes an approach that emphasizes consulting and prevention of losses using engineering methods and expertise.

This program will start you on an exciting and challenging career path that will help you capitalize on your technical education working as part of a global insurance leader. As a Zurich risk engineer, you will have the opportunity to think and act on your feet, work in a flexible and fast paced environment, travel to customer locations, perform assessments to analyze and evaluate exposures, and help customers understand and manage their risk. Working with a powerful global service network of specialists with in-depth technical knowledge and industry segment expertise, you will have access to leading edge risk management information, tools, and training. Additionally, you will collaborate with underwriting teams to help with risk selection and retention.

Zurich’s Risk Engineering team of construction specialists will provide a baseline of key construction management issues, resources, reference materials and participate in the training and mentoring of candidates accepted into the program.

  • Participants go through a structured training program which includes mentoring and technical support with on-the-job training that gives them the technical and real-life perspective to understand the role of a Risk Engineer.

  • The program starts March 1st 2023 with virtual classroom orientation and training.

  • Subsequent training will consist of a series of alternating sessions of field work and virtual classroom work. Locations may be rotated throughout multiple Zurich regional offices and project sites across the US.

  • The Risk Engineering role is a work from home role within the assigned territory. Travel is estimated around 50% for the duration of this program. A company car is provided after successful completion of the training program and assignment to field work.

  • This position is available in Indiana.

This position involves the use of a company car. If selected for the position, your driving record will be examined.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or University and 3 or more years of on-site construction experience

OR

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of on-site construction experience

AND

  • Zurich Certified Apprentice, including an Associates degree and 3 or more years of experience in teh Risk Engineering area

  • High level of computer literacy and proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Experience working both independently and in a team environment

  • Be legally eligible to work in the U.S. indefinitely

  • Up to 50% travel

Preferred qualifications include:

  • The ideal candidate who is a team players who are strategic thinkers, creative, confident, and self-motivated to participate in the program.

  • Bachelor’s degree in either Engineering, Construction Management, Building Technology, Health & Safety, or equivalent program

  • 3 years of on-site construction safety and/or project management/superintendent experience

  • Working knowledge of construction processes, safety, quality and associated risks and exposures

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and consulting skills

  • Capable of public speaking and presentation of ideas

  • Hazard identification & mitigation skills

  • Marketing of services

  • Analytical aptitude

  • Leadership and involvement in extracurricular activities, organizations and/or community, public service or similar activities
