AVP, Casualty Technical Underwriter, Middle Market
Zurich North America is seeking an AVP, Casualty Technical Underwriter for our growing Middle Market team. The AVP, Casualty Technical Underwriter will provide technical underwriting expertise and guidance to the U.S. Middle Market Business Unit and Underwriters, acting independently and with minimal direction and will act as a Subject Matter Expert in all aspects of the Casualty lines, to enable achievement of business plan and the delivery of excellent customer service.
This position reports to the Head of Casualty, Middle Market and can be based in one of our Zurich Offices.
Supporting portfolio performance management by industry, geography peril, etc.
Monitoring product and pricing/rating performance and supporting the creation and implementation of solutions to enhance performance
Underwriting guidelines, technical training, accumulation management and tiering
Supporting the continuous improvement of underwriting processes
Supporting the development of strategic business and service plans
Providing input for the Casualty strategy
Supporting the Head of Casualty in identifying opportunities and risks for the Casualty line associated with changes in direction of external environment, looking forward 5 + years
Partnering with Actuary to monitor Model Price accuracy, developing and implementing solutions to enhance Model Price and drive continuous enhancements of pricing tools in adherence to Model Price Certification requirements
Bachelor’s Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Underwriting areaOR
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Underwriting area
Advanced and in-depth knowledge of Casualty/Middle Market products
Portfolio management, risk selection and pricing experience
Product development and underwriting strategy experience
Excellent execution, communication and influencing skills
Solution oriented, strong collaboration and conflict resolution experience
Strong executive presence and the ability to interact across all levels of the organization
Track record of fostering business improvement and delivering change in a complex insurance environment
