Internal Auditor, Group Audit


Zurich North America is seeking an Internal Auditor, Group Audit to join our Global Internal Audit team located in Schaumburg, Illinois OR located remotely. Group Audit within North America is part of the global Group Audit function and reports into the local subsidiary Audit Committees as well as to the Group Audit Committee. “Providing rock solid assurance to be proud of” is Group Audit’s purpose as the third line of defense for the organization.

We are a fun, exciting, fast-paced, and high-performing team of audit professionals with diverse professional and cultural backgrounds and experiences. We are seeking an internal auditor with 2-3 years of professional experience gained in either internal or external audit, ideally in a financial services organization or large accounting firm.

The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to develop next-generation internal auditing skills, build up a strong foundation in data analytics, and wants to fast track insurance risk management and insurance value chain understanding, or alternatively a career as an IT auditor.   

Through the variety of businesses and functions that make up Zurich North America, you will be afforded diverse audit engagement opportunities in the world of risk and insurance and have exposure across the organization. You may also have an opportunity to participate in global audits and interact with leaders and team members from other countries.

We will support your development both in internal audit and insurance knowledge through on and off the job learning programs, strong mentorship and professional certifications in Internal Audit, IT and insurance.

Primary Accountabilities include: 

  • Perform audit tests as per a designated audit program, document audit observations and contribute with guidance and subsequent review to the creation of audit reports in line with Group Audit standards

  • Join global audit initiatives aimed to improve the audit function and which will enable you to develop an advanced understanding in selected specialist domains

  • After completion of training, perform various degrees of data analytics procedures with guidance from experienced data scientists

  • Support audit team members with various ad-hoc assignments

Basic qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 or more years of experience in the Audit or Finance area OR

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 4 or more years of experience in the Audit or Finance area OR

  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 2 or more years of experience in the Audit or Finance area

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Economics, Finance, or related disciplines

  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)

  • Demonstration of continuous learning on and off the job

  • Basic understanding of insurance and its value to society

  • Strong written and verbal communications including presentation skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, establish and meet deadlines

  • Negotiation skills

  • Inquisitive mindset with enthusiasm for learning something new everyday

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

  • Exposure to data analytics software such as R, Python, or SQL a plus.
