VP/U.S. Travel Insurance Lead
Zurich North America is currently looking for a VP/U.S. Travel Insurance Lead for our A&H strategic business unit. This is a great opportunity to join Zurich’s expansion into the broader Travel Insurance marketplace in North America. This is a highly technical and market facing position and requires experience with Travel Insurance lines of business. This role will contribute leadership and vision relative to the building and ongoing success of the Leisure Travel proposition.
This position is responsible for transactions as well as strategic contributions in the areas of Product Development, UW Guidelines and Governance, Rating/Pricing, Distribution, Fulfillment and Portfolio Financial Performance. The Travel Insurance industry provides a broad range of services and benefits for both domestic and international travelers; including, but not limited to trip cancellation, trip interruption, lost or damaged baggage and emergency medical or dental expenses; as well as travel assistance services. Services and benefits are made available to consumers through a variety of different channels, including, but not limited to travel agents, trip and tour operators, vacation clubs, airlines and online travel websites.
Responsibilities also include:
Underwriting, analyzing and generating new and renewal Travel Insurance business
Administering and monitoring underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations and rating manual rules
Developing and maintaining relationships
Working within broad limits and authorities on highly complex assignments
Mentoring and providing technical guidance, assistance and less experienced underwriters
9 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area
Experience in a specialized insurance line of business or segment
Knowledge of Travel Insurance lines of business
Advance knowledge of Travel Insurance lines of business
Ability to effectively assess risk
Strong knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing regulations and guidelines
Strong negotiation skills
Strong broker relationships
Superior skills in relationship building, active listening, needs analysis, and win-win negotiating
Possess knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business
Excellent oral and written communication skills
