Associate Attorney, Chicago IL (June 2020)
Zurich is currently looking for an Associate Attorney to support our Staff Legal office working out of our office in Chicago, IL.
This position will be closely supervised and work within narrowly defined limits of authority providing a high level of customer service to our insureds andclients. After an initial period of training, this position will handle low complexity matters. Participants go through a structured 12-month training program that gives them the technical and real-life perspective to understand the “Zurich Way of Claims.”
Your Staff Legal career will begin in your assigned office with a structured training plan working with the local manager and local team. Next, it is three weeks of centralized classroom training and hands-on experience in our home office in Schaumburg, IL. Your classroom training will provide the technical tools needed in the role. You will also learn how to apply your knowledge to ensure you understand how we “deliver when it matters most.” You will progressively build your skills as you are introduced to more complex matters, case studies and skill-building exercises that help you understand how to work both internally and with our customers.
The transition back to your local office will be your opportunity to demonstrate what you have learned. You will build on this strong foundation as you continue with 8-10 months of on-the-job training

Juris Doctor and No prior experience required in the Litigation areaAND
Active member of the Bar in Illinois
- Ability to obtain and maintain required Bar Membership within 3 months (90 days) after start date
Ability to obtain and maintain required Bar Membership within 3 months (90 days) after start date
Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA out of a 4.0 scale
Be legally eligible to work in the U.S. indefinitely
Have the ability to travel to Schaumburg, IL for three weeks of classroom training
Be flexible to relocate within a 5-year period to a location within the assigned line of business to one of Zurich’s metro office locations.
Corporate internship experience or corporate work experience
Leadership and involvement in extracurricular activities and on campus organizations and/or community, public service or similar activities
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
High learning agility
