Zurich NA Workers' Compensation Paralegal in Boston, Massachusetts

Workers' Compensation Paralegal


Zurich North America is currently hiring a Workers’ Compensation Paralegal for its Staff Legal Office in Boston, MA. The successful candidate will support three workers’ compensation attorneys and their cases. The preferred candidate will demonstrate experience with workers’ compensation law and procedures in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Providing legal support for three attorneys

  • Drafting legal pleadings, correspondence, and other documents as directed

  • Providing legal support such as legal and documentary research

  • Monitoring case schedules and filing deadlines

  • Conducting interviews, summarizing depositions, medical records

  • Preparing discovery requests and responses

  • Assisting in trial preparation

  • Responding to inquiries from and interacts with customers, clients, counsel, and witnesses

  • Tracking and recording billable hours

  • Organizing and maintaining case files and documentation, electronically

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree and 2 or more years of experience in the Legal or Legal Support areaOR

  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 2 or more years of experience in the Legal or Legal Support areaAND

  • Experience conducting electronic database research

  • Experience drafting legal documents, correspondence, and/or pleadings

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Insurance Defense experience

  • Insurance industry experience

  • Experience working with workers’ compensation cases in RI and NH

  • Ability to effectively conduct electronic database research, including WestLaw and NILS

  • Microsoft Office skills

  • CORE Registered Paralegal (CRP)

  • PACE Registered Paralegal (PRP)

  • Certified Paralegal (CP)

  • Certified Legal Assistant (CLA)

  • Professional Paralegal (PP)
