Workers' Compensation Paralegal
Zurich is currently looking for a Workers’Compensation Paralegal to work out of our North American office in Boston,Massachusetts.
TheWorkers’ Compensation Paralegal will support three Workers’ CompensationAttorneys, and is responsible for supporting the identification, management andmitigation of legal, regulatory and corporate governance risks, to enablebusiness to achieve strategic and commercial goals in accordance withapplicable laws and regulations and to protect and preserve Zurich’s tangibleand intangible assets.
Additional responsibilities will include:
Conductingthorough and timely legal and/or documentary research on matters of basiccomplexity; summarizes information and findings in reports, charts, diagrams,presentations and/or other mediums
Preparingroutine and less complex legal documents, correspondence, and/or pleadings
Assistingwith case preparation and management, including conducting factualinvestigations; locating witnesses; compiling and preparing discoveryinformation, evidence, and/or other case documentation; filing exhibits,briefs, appeals and other legal documents with the court and/or opposingcounsel
Maintainingcase details in appropriate systems
Organizingand maintaining paper and electronic documents and files
Respondingto inquiries and provides updates to attorneys, internal departments, outsidecounsel, external agencies, opposing counsel, witnesses, and/or externalcustomers as needed
Assistingwith ad-hoc and routine tracking and reporting of department and/or caseexpenses, indemnity reserves, extra contractual, and/or other performancereports and analyses
AssociateDegree and 2 or more years of experience in the Legal or Legal Support areaOR
ZurichCertified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 2 or moreyears of experience in the Legal or Legal Support areaAND
Experienceconducting electronic database research
Experiencedrafting legal documents, correspondence, and/or pleadings
Insurance industry experience
Ability to effectively conduct electronicdatabase research, including WestLaw and NILS
Microsoft Office skills
CORE Registered Paralegal (CRP)
PACE Registered Paralegal (PRP)
Certified Paralegal (CP)
Certified Legal Assistant (CLA)
Professional Paralegal (PP)
